Lopez gained his first World Champion IBF title at the end of 2019 year and later in October 2020 defeated three weight categories world champion, two times Olympic Champion the legendary Vasyl Lomachenko and became unified World Champion holding 4 major lightweight belts of professional boxing. 13 months later he lost his unified status via split decision to Australian George Kambosos. After this shocking loss he moves up to super light weight division and in October 2023 upsets former undisputed super lightweight world champion Josh Taylor, gaining the WBO world champion title.
